Being a Part of Space Cookies is a Life-Changing Experience

"Space Cookies helped Tatiana find her passion (in mechanical engineering)," Tatiana's mother

"Being a part of the Space Cookies has taught me so many things," Meghna says, "I don't think I am going to be an engineer. Politics and business are more in my line of interest. Yet, I joined the Space Cookies three years ago and plan to continue until the end of high school because I have learnt about so many things besides engineering."

  • Seniors set meeting agendas and run meetings
  • Everyone gets to participate and voice her opinions
  • Members write marketing materials, do graphics design
  • Seniors teach juniors on all aspects of the challenge
  • Members are mentoring a junior FIRST Lego team
  • Any member interested can join the team at pubic outreach events and speak
  • Members create their own animation
  • Marketing team decides on potential sponsors, and do budgeting
  • Engineering team sets big and small deadlines
  • All final decisions are the girls'
    Members made their own logo, decided on team colors, team motto and team vision

All This Takes Money, and a Lot of It

Our annual budget is $60,000. This does not include lab space, mentor's compensations, or fees for classes. These are provided by NASA, volunteer efforts, and the School of Engineering of Santa Clara University, respectively.

Any Contribution from You Goes to Cover the Following:

  • Registration for the challenge
  • Registration for two regionals and the National competition
  • Paying for extra parts for the robot
  • Traveling to the National competition

Space Cookies is an Equal Opportunity Team

There is no fee to be a Space Cookie. Any interested girl from any school is allowed to join the team, and we have an ethnic and cultural diversity that would be envy of any organization.
